A downloadable Simulation
Overview
DOCKED was developed as part of my bachelor’s capstone to explore scalable, cost-efficient VR simulation for maritime training. Built entirely in Unity (C#), it integrates Crest Ocean System for dynamic water, NWH Vehicle Physics for ship motion, and a modular XR Interaction Toolkit setup for realistic bridge controls.
Goals & Challenges
• Achieve fluid real-time water simulation and buoyancy with Crest + URP.
• Develop modular bridge control panels, interactable levers, and telemetry.
• Optimize VR performance to maintain 90 FPS on Meta Quest 2.
• Deliver under extreme time pressure—debugged and redeployed a full VR build minutes before a live demo.
Results
• 40 % cost reduction potential validated by the university’s engineering board.
• Received national recognition and an ITIDA Grant for innovation.
• Featured at AASTMT’s Scientific Excellence Expo 2024.
